Save Skype chat history as a PDF

A PDF keeps a conversation in a form you can print, store or share with family: every message, with its date and time, and the photos where they were sent.

Updated 2 November 2026

What the PDF looks like

The PDF starts with a cover page giving the conversation's name, the years it covers, how many messages it holds and who took part. Then the messages follow as speech bubbles on A4 pages, with each day headed, times beside each message, quoted replies, calls, and the photos from the files export placed where they were sent. Pages are numbered.

Text in any language is kept. Where a message uses characters the PDF's font doesn't include, such as emoji, Chinese or Arabic, your browser draws that message as an image inside the bubble, so nothing turns into empty squares.

Other formats

  • Web page (HTML). One file per conversation that opens in any browser, with photos inside it. No internet connection or program needed, and it can be printed.
  • Spreadsheet (CSV). One row per message with date, sender and text, for Excel, Numbers or LibreOffice.

You can save one conversation or all of them at once (as a .zip of separate files).

Coming soon

Saving copies as PDF, web page and spreadsheet is being finished and will be a small one-time unlock. Reading and searching your export are free, now and later.

Until then, you can print a conversation you are reading with your browser's own print command and choose Save as PDF, though long conversations print better with the dedicated PDF.

Is it private?

The PDF is made in your browser from the file on your computer. The export is never uploaded, and neither is the PDF.
